
Pergo invented laminate flooring in the 1970's and has since continued to invent and develop new, innovative and revolutionary products and technology. This development has resulted in the creation of a broad and pioneering intellectual property portfolio.
Pergo’s intellectual property portfolio is owned by the Swedish company Pergo (Europe) AB and today comprises approximately 550 granted patents and pending patent applications, approximately 330 registered trademarks and pending trademark applications, an extensive list of copyrights and designs and over 50 domain names throughout the world.
In August 2007 an Intellectual Property Business Unit was established by Pergo’s owner, MDAX-listed Pfleiderer AG, with the purpose of taking advantage of the extensive intellectual property portfolio owned by Pergo (Europe) AB. With the creation of the Intellectual Property
The Business Unit’s objectives are i.a. to be a dominant force in the marketing of flooring related patents, create innovative business channels/new revenue streams and contribute valuably to the economics of the Pfleiderer Group.

1977 Laminate flooring is invented by Pergo’s parent company, at the time a part of the Perstorp Group 1980 The first laminate flooring is sold in Sweden. 1989 The PERGO® trademark was launched and products started to be sold under the trademark in Europe.. 1994 Introduction of PERGO® products in North America. Pergo files its first patent application for its molding technologies. The first patent in the family is granted in 1996. 1995 PERGO® products are introduced in Asia. 1999 PERGO® products are introduced in Viet Nam 2001 2007 Turover estimated to Euro 1.7 Billion with 5900 employees and 20 Production units worldwilde. |
